Exosense
Exosite is an IoT platform regularly ranked among the top ten internationally by consulting firms including Gartner and Forrester, with a sizable Professional Services team that created applications for clients atop the platform. Rather than continually creating bespoke applications and gathering non-recurring revenue, Exosite wanted to create a product that could host the common needs for their clients that could be white-labeled and leveraged by these same companies.

Background
Exosite had a decade of experience in creating one-off applications for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and were familiar with the pains of going from a proof of concept or demo implementation to an application that was production-ready. The new product needed to not only help new customers with limited software experience get their device data visualized quickly, but also needed to be able to handle the increasingly complex features needed as a product looked to go to market.
Project Goals and Challenges
Leverage years of customer-directed projects to solve a common set of IIoT needs.
Create a reusable white-labelable application that can handle the wide breath of variety in IIoT devices and internals processes.
My Role
The first UX hire, Nick worked directly with initial customers interviewing and creating interactive prototypes to handle their unique IoT needs. Under Nick’s leadership, the company grew to an internationally-distributed design team working in parallel with separate clients in their region.
As Exosite moved to make ExoSense their sole official offering, Nick became the sole UX designer again, and began defining new features & requirements as part of the Product Management team. Currently, Nick leads the Software Delivery team overseeing all elements of the application’s design and development.
